8th Annual 2011 Roche Harbor
Salmon Classic Invitational

Selling out January 7, 2011 ~ 100 boats arrived to Roche Harbor Resort & Marina for the 8th Annual Salmon Classic Invitational.
The following results from the derby are as follows:

100 Derby Boats; total 337 Anglers
43 fish weighed in on Friday February 4, 2011
25 fish weighed in on Saturday February 5, 2011
38 boats weighed in a total of 68 Fish
$25,000 cash prizes awarded:

Derek Floyd of Reel Class Charters in Sitka absolutely dominated the field, including myself :cry:

All in all, it was am extremely well run event in a beautiful setting with some great folks! I'll be back!!!

I don't know as much about the western side of the San Juans but the usual areas around Rosario Straight have been producing. Tide Pont and Thatcher Pass have been good to me. I have also heard that fish are being caught on Fidalgo Head. Spoons, plugs and trolled herring all seem to be working.

A 28 pound, fin-clipped Chinook that most likely would be near 40 pounds by the time it would have spawned.

Only one word I can think of;
