Boat occupancy

Postby PKG » Wed May 22, 2013 1:34 pm

So I recently acquired a new/ used boat. And it does not have a max occupancy tag in it. It's a 23' boat from 1991. How do I find out how many people I can have on my boat. And how many life vests to carry.

Good question!
If the manufacturer is still in business, I would head to their website and find the "contact us" page.
Shoot them an email and you should get an answer.
If not, the local Coast Guard Auxiliary will perform a free inspection for you and should provide an answer.

In general a 23' boat should accommodate five adults, six in a pinch but if you're looking for a engine HP recommendation... You'ld better go the Coast Guard route. thumbup

Just for information. I contacted bayliner/ Trophy and they gave me the information on my boat ocupincy and weights and told me they can no longer make the stickers. But I can contact a grafics company and they should have a templet to make a sticker for my boat.
