Area 9 Report; 7/31-8/2

Postby Nick Berto » Mon Aug 04, 2014 10:31 am

I broke away from bass fishing this summer to do some Chinook fishing in area 9 with my bass partner and also salmon fisherman Chris Ferry from Limit Out Marine and Tackle. And here are the results;

7/31; 1st fish not even 10 minutes into the day and 2nd at 7:58am and on our way home.
8/1; Similar to 7/31. 2 fish and done by 8:10am. Also pulled our crab pots and had over 20 keepers, we left some to pull for the next day and kept our 10.
8/2; Got me a solid keeper at 4:45am! I proposed to my girl friend of 8 years and she said yes. Then went fishing where our crew of 5+1 went 3/4 on the morning flood and then got our 30 crab.

All but 1 of our fish came on flasher and 4.5" spoon with mini squid tailwagger and one on a 4" tomic plug. We had to maintain a tight course with the bottom and the downrigger, constantly making sure it was very close. No giant fish but a few pushing the upper teens. I probably don't need to mention where we were other than follow the other 100-200+ boats and we were right in the middle doing our damage!

And all of our crab came on chicken legs and salmon waste parts (heads, collars, belly strips). Nothing special needed, all about location!

The fishing spot was PNP, no secret there (and you can see the point in most of the pics). There were 100-200 boats there daily and probably will be for the rest of the season.

The crab location is so good because it is not over fished and I think I will keep it that way. It was in Area 10.

Kurt,

Really man? You honestly think you're the only person who knows where spots are to fish in Puget Sound? I have news for you, it's hard as hell to miss a pack of 300 boats in one location in the Sound. People like you really annoy me. You think you have some secret insider knowledge of where to fish in Puget Sound!?! You dont seem to realize that we live in the age of information. All it takes is a Google search and you have EVERY "secret" fishing location in Puget Sound. What's that you say? Not Google savvy? Well, let me tell you there are plenty of books, articles, videos, youtube clips, fishing/sporting good stores, maps, etc out there which can be utilized to find your "secret" fishing spot.

Dont believe me? Well how about this one, do you ever tell people what kind of boat you use on the sound or what the name of your boat is?!?! Well you guessed it! There's probably a "buddy" of yours who's always out there looking for your boat so they can come and find your fishing spot.

The illuminati is after you man! Better get yourself that all glass boat that no one, including yourself can see.

Get over yourself buddy. Enough of the bloody decks etiquette. Either contribute to the conversation or stop reading articles on forums!

Hey Nick, congrats on your engagement. thumbup I would not sweat that post, like you said there is no secret that PNP and Pilot are hot fishing spots. I would say that post was more frustration then anything... Kurt you have been on this forum for a long time, and I am truly surprised by your post. This site is a community, and there is a wealth of knowledge behind each user, and to badger someone for posting a report is not too cool. thumbdown thumbdown I give it two thumbs down.
