“Salmon for Soldiers” Fishing Event 21

1st Annual Salmon for Soldiers Fishing Event
August 10th, 2013
Port of Everett, Washington
Event Headquarters – Bayside Marine

The Outdoor Line on 710 ESPN Seattle and the Take a Warrior Fishing foundation are presenting the 1st Annual “Salmon for Soldiers” fishing event in Everett, Washington on Saturday, August 10th. What better way to say THANK YOU to our young wounded veterans than to spend a great day fishing with them on the Puget Sound.

The forecast calls for a record run of pink salmon to the Puget Sound this summer and August is also a great time to hook into a king salmon or perhaps an early silver salmon. Fish will be caught, these young soldiers will smile, and you’ll get to meet some of America’s genuine war hero’s. Everyone wins at an event like this!

We expect as many as 100 wounded veterans from Operation Iraqi Freedom and Operation Enduring Freedom to participate in the event and we need boats, boats, and more boats to help the cause. You can be responsible for putting a smile on these young soldiers faces, many of whom have been wounded in combat and are now trying to put their lives back together here at home.

Here’s the “Salmon for Soldiers” schedule for August 10th, 2013:

6:00 a.m. – 7:00 a.m. – Check in and Boat Assignments
6:30 a.m. – 173rd Airborne Association presents the American Flag, Pledge of Allegiance
7:00 a.m. – FISH ON!
3:00 p.m. – Check in, BBQ, and Raffle

My son is a combat injured US Marine (Daniel Centilli). He has been diagnosed with PTSD, TBI and Bi Polar Disorder. He recently was released from a psychiatric (Military) hospital after four months there to be stabilized. He is unexpectedly getting to come home for the holidays (12/23 – 01/05). I was looking for something that he and his Dad might be able to do together – they are avid fisherman and love to hunt. Do yall have anything available soon or something he might qualify for in the near future? It has been a really rough year for our family. Any information would be so helpful!

Hi Alana you may not remember me but my name is Connor Tapley, we met once before on the Island. Daniel was my rack mate and best bud through boot camp and SOI we did great about keeping in touch for years but eventually lost track of each other. I have periodically been trying to track him down for the last few years and just now during another so far unsuccessful attempt I stumbled this (now 3 year old) post. My email is connor.tapley@gmail.com and my cell is 901-820-6844. If you get this and have any way that I would be able to contact him or if you could just let him know I think about him often I would greatly appreciate it. Thank you.

I would love to help out. I'm not a wounded warrior but served in the 101st Airborne 20 years ago and am an avid fisherman now. I have a 23 foot 2007 Rouge jet boat. Inboard engine Jet 8.1 - made for catching fish. I'm happy to provide all rods, tackle & drinks. I can take out 2 warriors (with their spouses/friends) total 4 people I can host. I will be there with my wife helping.
