Tungsten Disulfide

Tungsten Disulfide

ReelSchematics.com now offers pure Tungsten Disulfide (WS2), one of the most lubricous materials known to science. With a friction coefficient of 0.03, it offers excellent dry lubricity unmatched to any other substance. It can also be used in high temperature and high pressure applications and is used extensively in the aerospace industry. Tungsten Disulfide can be mixed with wet lubricants such as oil, grease, and synthetic lubricants to make a super-lubricant that can be applied to reels or parts can be powdered-coated with WS2 in a Zip Lock bag. I ordered both the 4oz powder and the spray can, got both in yesterday. Very impressive, I'd suggest doing this outdside though because this stuff is such a fine powder. The spray is awesome for doing a quick job, but I fell in love with the powder because I can mix it with my favorite greases or oil. I did find that the spray was perfect for lubricating my steering linkages on the boat, and also the seat pedestals (Perfect! no more squeaking!). If you haven't gotten yours yet I highly suggest you get it, they are the only company in the U.S. selling it right now. ReelSchematic just became my favorite place to buy all my products

Spray can...that's much easier to deal with. I'll be ordering some this week. Thanks for the heads up Mark.

Rob, I applied it directly to the reel, but there are a couple different ways from what I understand, you can do like me and apply it direct or you can mix it with either grease or oil. I got a newsletter from them today stating its now available in a spray can which is awesome! so I'm ordering that one today while its in stock!

We are proud to announce the product is also now available in a convenient 13oz. Tungsten Spray Can, this makes it very easy for any angler to be able to apply a thin lubricative film of Tungsten Disulfide to any part in the reel! It's not just for reels either, you can use our Tungsten Spray or Powder on any surface that requires lubrication, including marine motors, boats, vehicles, and other marine equipment.

I'm definitely ordering some. Did you add it to oil or just apply the powder to the reel?

I purchased this product last week and used it for lubricating 2 of my reels, one a newer reel and the other an older reel. Let me tell you it brought a whole new life into the old reel! It's harder to tell with the newer one but I can tell I get a much farther cast than I ever did before with either. Why hasn't this been offered as a lubricant for reels before now? With all the technology we had today I can't believe we are still using grease and oil, its about time this came out. Now this is just a rumor I heard but I understand they will be coming out with a line of bearings also that are built with this stuff in them, suppose to make them last a lifetime! Oh yea I'm getting in line!

Craig, Alaska

Featured Trip Craig, Alaska

June 24-28, 2010

Trophy king salmon, some weighing in excess of 60 pounds, congregate in the islands near Craig to feed on abundant schools of baitfish before heading to rivers further south. In addition to the mass migration of salmon thru these waters a local hatchery bolsters the king salmon run here, making this area a destination for anglers wishing to tie into one of the west coasts most revered fish.
